[Like most others, Dominic hasn't had much sleep in the past few days. He's a bit refreshed now that he's finally gotten some rest, but there's still something that bugs him.

Creatures of shadow, can't be killed, a cold air, attacking mentally as well as physically--Dominic's never seen the Noctaere before, but he still remembers Cornelia's description of them.]

For those who have seen them before:

Those creatures... Were they the Noctaere?

Are you all right? I'm sorry I wasn't able to find you.

[Do you have any idea how long he was searching, sob? Stupid PA and its public broadcasts that would've allowed Vincent to hear him.]

[He nods, slowly.]

I see. I shall have to look over those.

These creatures appear to be quite the danger, and yet...The connection between darkness and nightmares here simply cannot be coincidental.

Do you, perhaps, know why these Dreamberrys record dreams?

All I know is that the dreams provide some kind of energy. Why they have to be recorded, I don't know.

So they do provide energy...? It is plausible that they must be recorded because these devices are what harness said energy.

Noctaere...Nightmare...Hm. Is the energy harnessed by nightmares perhaps different from that of dreams?

It's a possibility. The Overlord did say that the dream energy could be used to fight against the Noctaere, so it's unlikely that nightmares would work in our favour.

Oh, so dreams provided a positive energy, of sorts? Then is is logical that nightmares would be the opposite; negative energy, if you will. In which case, there must be some reason that so much of this negative energy was collected over the past week...

...Pardon, but...By Overlord, you mean the one who lives in the floating castle, is that correct?

...And she is the proper Overlord? Her suzerainty is uncontested?

She's not the ruler of this world, if that's what you're thinking. According to her, her duty is to maintain the peace.

[That doesn't really help, Dominic. Now he still thinks that Laharl was telling the truth.]

I see.

Ah, but I digress from the topic at hand. Is there any more information, whether of how the dream energy works in this world or on these creatures?

[Oh, Canas.]

Apparently, the Noctaere escaped through the Overlord's dream--at least, that was when they first appeared to the... 'new' residents. As for their true origins, the Overlord informed me that she couldn't say.

Oh, how fascinating.

Was it the Overlord's dream they escaped from, or her nightmare? It seems that there is a greater difference between the two than first appears, and it might, perhaps, be significant.

I'm afraid I don't know. I wasn't actually present for it.

I see...

And there are no records of this?

None that I know of.
